This Log structure was constructed around 1935 on land donated by George W. Shepard by the WPA with lumber donated by the community. This community center served as the area's gathering and voting place until the 1980's. In North Carolina both state and federal income tax credits are available for the certified rehabilitation of historic structures. For the rehabilitation of owner occupied homes certified historic structures (non-income producing properties) a 30% state tax credit is available. The Historic
